Alvina H. "Vinie" Klaphake, age 89 of Melrose, died Monday, January 14 in Pine Haven at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vincent Lieser officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose.
Alvina Klaphake was born August 20, 1918 in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Hubert and Anna (Sand) Welle. On April 29, 1941 she married Frank Klaphake in Melrose. The couple farmed one mile north of Melrose. While Vinie was a young lady, she worked at the Melrose Hotel and later at the Hardware Hank in Melrose. Vinie enjoyed music and playing cards. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary, and the Melrose Credit Union.
Survivors include her sons, Roger Klaphake (Carol) of Cold Spring, Ronald Klaphake (Penny) of Peoria, AZ, and Gary Klaphake (Carolyn) of Lafayette, CO; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren..
Vinie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Klaphake on February 6, 2007; brothers Mike Welle, Henry Welle, Al Welle, Pete Welle, Bill Welle, and Hub Welle; sisters, Annie Thull, Pauline Meyer, and Rose Moening.
