Alvina M. Call, age 98 of Grey Eagle, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at her home in Grey Eagle, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 20 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Mark Willenbring officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church in Grey Eagle. Christian Mothers will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the church.
Alvina Marie Luskey was born September 16, 1911 in Grey Eagle Township, Todd County, Minnesota to John and Catherine (Pluth) Luskey. On October 12, 1937 she was united in marriage to Forrest Call at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Alvina farmed near Long Prairie and then near Grey Eagle until 1969. She also worked at the Jennie-O Foods in Melrose for 12 years and was a volunteer driver in Todd County for 12 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, Christian Mothers, and Homemakers. She also was an apartment board member for six years. Alvina loved to drive after getting her license later in life and enjoyed gardening and going out to eat.
Survivors include her three sons, Gerald (Linda) Call of Coon Rapids, Joseph Call of Coon Rapids, and John (Laurie) Call of Grey Eagle; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Dolores Trutna of Melrose.
Alvina was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Call on September 17, 1984; parents, John and Catherine Luskey; sister, Helen Poole; brothers, Sylvester Luskey and Roger Luskey; and daughter-in-law, Jane Call.
Serving as casket bearers will be Vern Frieler, James Luskey, Robert Luskey, Bud Pendroy, John Stuckel, and John Call. Serving as cross bearer will be Brad Voelker and scripture bearer will be Kim Voelker.
