Alta Weiner, age 78 of Sauk Centre, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 25 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Kevin Born officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Alta Weiner was born on December 2, 1930 in Sauk Centre to Fred and Mary (Eide) Crandall. She graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1948. On January 1, 1956 she was united in marriage to Sidney Butler, who passed away on November 3, 1967. On December 19, 1968 she married Dwayne Weiner. She was employed at Bushey Drug Store for many years and later on was an on call employee at Main Street Press. Alta also volunteered at St. Michael's Nursing Home, Meals on Wheels, and at one time was a census taker. She fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for 15 months. Alta looked forward to living life's many great events, especially the wedding of her son Glen and Leslie Detomaso in May.She was a life long member of First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Her faith and her church were a very important part of her life. She was a member of the Greenwood Cemetery and Historical Society boards. She was also involved with her children in the Cub and Boy Scouts.
Alta is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dwayne "Skeeter" Weiner of Sauk Centre; sons, Glen (Leslie Detomaso) Weiner of Fridley, and Fred (Renae) Butler of Spring Lake, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Marc, Brandon, and Kristi Butler; and three cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sidney Butler; and infant son, "Weiner".
Serving as casket bearers will be Jeff Bailey, Bob Bjork, Matt Bjork, Bob Pallow, Kenneth Quade, and Arnold Kleinschmidt. Honorary bearers will be Jan Bjork, Marilyn Gettel, and Betty Butler.
