Aloysius J. "Bud" Kramer, age 89 of Melrose, died on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 1 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. The Melrose Veterans Honor Guard will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Bud Kramer was born July 20, 1919 in Melrose, Minnesota to Bernard and Mary (Klein) Kramer. He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. Bud spent 42 months in the South Pacific installing communications equipment. He also worked at Litho Colorplate in Minneapolis for 24 years as a lithographer.He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, and a life member of the American Legion Unit 101 and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050. Bud enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, hunting and fishing, and loved spending summers at the lake.
Survivors include his brother, Theodore "Ted" Kramer of Melrose; many nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry, Leo, and Raymond Kramer; sisters, Alvina Spaeth, Alma Kramer, Rose Illies, Louise Spehn, Veronica Wolf, Marie Parish, Ann Uhlenkamp, and infant sister, Helen Kramer.
Serving as casket bearers will be Mike Barten, Gordy Olson, Gary Toenyan, Don Salzmann, Wif Finken and Leroy Schwieters. Serving as cross bearer will be Sam Kramer and scripture bearer will be Janice Kramer. Lector will be Elisha Seanger. Honorary bearers will be the members of the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
