Aloysius "Al" Bohlig, age 95 of Melrose, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating. Interment will be held in Saint Patrick's Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.
Aloysius B. "Al" Bohlig was born March 19, 1913 in Spring Hill, Minnesota to Charles and Magdalena (Athmann) Bohlig. He graduated from Saint John's Preparatory School and attended Saint John's University. Al served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre as a medic. He was a resident of Melrose since 1950 and worked at Bohlig's Cleaners. He was a member of Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 and the American Legion Post 101.
Survivors include his brothers, Norman Bohlig of Melrose, Ves (Roseann) Bohlig of St. Cloud, and Chuck (Jackie) Bohlig of Little Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ervin, Art, and Don Bohlig.
Serving as casket bearers will be Richard Bohlig, Terry Pladson, Jim Illies, Ves Bohlig, Robert Niehaus, and John Niehaus. Cross bearer will be Lisa Illies and scripture bearer will be Sue Pladson.
