Alois J. "Al" Wiechman, age 89 of St. Rosa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at his home in St. Rosa, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by the Franciscan Sisters at 6 p.m., St. Rosa Catholic United Financial and the Holy Name Society at 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Alois Joseph Wiechman was born November 14, 1923 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Anna (Herkenhoff) Wiechman. On May 4, 1948 he married Rose Westendorf at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. Al farmed on the family farm east of St. Rosa until his retirement in 1980. Al enjoyed using a team of horses for farming and always liked having a team on hand. Al's faith was very important to him. He prayed the rosary daily and enjoyed going to Mass. He also enjoyed playing cards, going on walks, reading, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa, Knights of Columbus Council #1633, Holy Name Society, and St. Rose Catholic United Financial.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Wiechman of St. Rosa; children, Sister Janice Wiechman of Little Falls, Mary (Harvey) Kimman of St. Rosa, Ruth Wiechman of St. Cloud, James (Linda) Wiechman of Port Angeles, Washington, Mark (Bev) Wiechman of St. Rosa, Louise (Greg) Claypole of Park Hills, Kentucky, Anne (Tom) Vollrath of DePere, Wisconsin, Stephen (Cheryl) Wiechman of St. Rosa, Carla Wiechman of Seattle, Washington, and Martha (Mike) Udermann of Rosemount; 39 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Alphonse (Hilda) Wiechman of Belgrade; sister, Marie (Tony) Koll of Chaska; and sister-in-law, Helen Wiechman of Sauk Centre.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Wiechman, Tony Wiechman, Walter Wiechman, and Wilfred Wiechman; sisters, Elsie Mohr and Catherine Klassen; infant daughter, Helen Mary Wiechman; and grandson, Ben Casey Wiechman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Franciscan Sisters or Rebecca's Haiti Mission.
