Alma Orth

Alma A. Orth, age 84 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Friday, October 31, 2014 at her home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 4 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Jeremy Theis will officiate with interment following in St. Paul's Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers rosary at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Alma Ann Volbert was born May 25, 1930 in Melrose, Minnesota to Bernard and Mathilda (Klaphake) Volbert. She grew up in Melrose with her sister and three brothers and graduated from Melrose High School in 1949. On September 2, 1950 she married McGlore "Mike" Orth at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. The couple moved to Columbia Heights where they resided for 34 years. In 1984 they retired and moved to their lake home in Sauk Centre. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

Alma's hobbies were sewing, making crafts, gardening, playing cards, fishing, square dancing, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed attending high school sporting events to follow her granddaughter's teams.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, McGlore "Mike" Orth of Sauk Centre; their three children and spouses, McGlore "Mick" (Pat) Orth of Ham Lake, Thomas (Mary) Orth of Sauk Centre, and Patricia (Donald) Peschel of Sauk Centre; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Erma "Josie" Krebsbach; and brothers, Urban, Norbert, and Ralph Volbert.

Serving as casket bearers will be Thomas and Jon Orth, Danny and John Beck, Judy Eckstrand, and Marne Evenson. Cross bearer will be Meghan Orth and scripture bearer will be Kali Peschel.
