Alma H. Lieser, age 80 of St. Martin, died peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the CentraCare Health Systems Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin with Rev. Stephen Beauclair, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Martin Parish Center. St. Ann's Christian Women will pray at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening in St. Martin.
Alma Helen Rolfes was born December 20, 1932 in Munson Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Rudolph and Bertha (Behnen) Rolfes. On September 20, 1955 she married Alvarius Lieser at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Farming. In 1967, the couple started farming in Lake Henry Township, Stearns County for many years. In 2010, the couple moved to St. Martin. Alma enjoyed bowling, cooking, and was known for her Christmas cookies. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin where she sang in the choir for many years and a member of St. Ann's Christian Women.
Survivors include her husband, Alvarius "Al" Lieser of St. Martin; children, Sandra (fiancé, Melvin Michels) Sheets of Hawick, Karen (Michael) Hecimovich of Belgrade, and Kevin (Jolene) Lieser of Lake Henry; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Martha (Art) Fasen of Eden Prairie, Ray Rolfes of Farming, Theresa Backes of St. Cloud, Andrew (Delores) Rolfes of St. Anna, Leora (Jack) Burg of St. Martin, and Irene (Dave) Schmidt of Hermantown; sisters and brothers-in-law, Genevieve "Jenny" (Vernon) Welle of Spring Hill, Leora (Gene) Lesser of Wayzata, Leona (Jim) Spanier of Emmitt, CA, Paul (Judy) Lieser of Spring Lake Park, and Marlene Lieser of Melrose.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Delores Rolfes; brothers-in-law, Clarence Backes, Werner and Alvin Lieser; and infant brothers-in-law, Cyril and Peter Lieser.
Serving as casket bearers will be Crista Pauls, Kurt Lieser, Jessie Sheets, Carrie Lieser, Kajae Lieser, and Trent Pauls. Cross bearer will be Paula Voller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
