Alma R. Blenker, age 96 of Melrose, died peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at the funeral home in Melrose.
Alma Rose Faber was born March 5, 1919 in Getty Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Frank and Helen (Deters) Faber. On October 7, 1943 she was united in marriage to Alphonse Blenker at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple farmed two miles north of Melrose for many years before moving into town. Alma was a fan of the MN Twins and enjoyed knitting and embroidering. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, and Catholic United Financial.
Survivors include her children, Sharon (Meyer) Tesrow of Sleepy Eye, MN and Carol (Fred) Lee of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Chris Lee of Brooklyn, NY, Scott Meyer of Sleepy Eye, and Rachel (Carl) Hoffman of New Ulm; and two great-grandchildren, Karson and Cole Hoffman.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alphonse Blenker on December 11, 1993; brothers, John, Joseph, Herman, Edward, and Frank Faber; sisters, Annie Illies, Loretta Koll, Katie Salzman, and Rose Wehlage.
