Alma A. Meyer, age 87 of Meire Grove, died on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. Rev. Ronald Dockendorf will officiate with Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 to 10 a.m. at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Mary's Society, Holy Rosary Society and Poor Soul's Society will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Melrose.

Alma Meyer was born on November 11, 1915 in Getty Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Herman and Theresa (Petermeier) Schmiesing. She was united in marriage to Henry Meyer on June 9, 1936 in Meire Grove. Alma was a lifetime resident of the Meire Grove area where she and her husband farmed until retiring. They moved to town in 1979. She enjoyed gardening and quilting. Alma was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove, St. Mary's Society, Holy Rosary Society, Poor Soul's Society and St. John's Catholic Aid.

Survivors include her children, Eunice Lesser and her husband, Leander of Brooklyn Center, Gerald Meyer and his wife, Joyce of Sauk Centre, Anthony Meyer and his wife, Gladys of Brooklyn Park, Doris Braun and her husband, Dean of Brooklyn Park, Neil Meyer and his wife, Betty of St. Cloud and Daniel Meyer and his wife, Char of Meire Grove; 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; brother, Alphonse Schmiesing and his wife, Hilda of Meire Grove; sisters, Alvina Zenzen of Sauk Centre, Bernadine Schmiesing of Sauk Centre, Lydia Zenzen and her husband, Clarence of Meire Grove; sisters-in-law, Eileen Schmiesing of Meire Grove and Olivia Schmiesing of Sauk Centre.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Theresa Schmiesing; husband, Henry Meyer on February 4, 1984; brothers, Henry and Ervin Schmiesing; sisters, Ann Schmiesing, Agnes Meyer and Clara Clobes.

Serving as casket bearers will be Dale Lesser, David Meyer, Brian Meyer, Tim Braun, Matthew Meyer and Ryan Meyer. Serving as cross bearer will be Cheryl Fuhrman and Holly Meyer as scripture bearer. Honorary bearers will be St. Mary's Society of Meire Grove.
