Allen R. "Ugly" Towle, age 73, of Burtrum, died peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at his home in Burtrum.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30 at Brighter Days Family Church in Burtrum with Rev. Anna Payne officiating. Interment will follow in Moses Dane Cemetery in Burtrum.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday all at the church in Burtrum.
Allen Richard Towle was born April 29, 1938 in Spring Lake, Minnesota to Harrison and Irene (Leisinger) Towle. He attended Hinkley High School where he competed in wrestling. After high school, he worked for American Iron and at various drywall companies before owning his own. On September 21, 1956 he married Betty Walker in Burtrum. After their marriage, the couple moved to Coon Lake for five years then Circle Pines and in 1971 they moved to Burtrum.Allen was a member of Brighter Days Family Church in Burtrum.
He enjoyed water fights, fishing, snowmobiling, playing guitar and singing, going to the casino, riding his golf cart, mowing lawn, and spending winters in Louisiana.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Towle of Burtrum; children, Jeannie (Kevin) Unger of Sauk Centre, Dale (Judy) Towle of Clear Lake, Judy (Mike) Meagher of Burtrum, Duane (Sheila) Towle of Grey Eagle, and Pat (Mona) Towle of Marksville, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister and brothers, Judy (Bob) Taylor, Tony (Sandy) Towle, Clint (Patty) Towle, Danny (Brian) Towle, and Marty (Debbie) Towle; sisters-in-law, Inez (Clyde) Karnes and Pat (Jim) Sirnsky; brothers-in-law, Bob (Pearl) Walker and Ed (LuAnn) Walker.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Irene Towle; son, Terry Towle; grandchildren, Craig Rohde and Travis Towle; and brothers, Ervin and Delroy Towle.
Serving as casket bearers will be Scott Rohde, Brian Towle, Mike "Bucky" Meagher, Chris Towle, Eric Towle, and Casey Towle. Honorary bearers will be granddaughters, Bobbi Jo Meagher, Dawn Becker, Candice Rohde, Jannice Rawlins, Bethany Towle, and Tiffany Towle.
