Allen J. Pagel age 72 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Graveside services will be held at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, Minnesota on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
Allen James Pagel was born November 24, 1945 in Long Prairie, Minnesota, the son of Emil William and Minnie Clara (Tabatt) Pagel. Allen attend school in the Long Prairie School District. Soon after graduation from high school, Allen was drafted in the US Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. While in the military, Allen met Martha Luise Steller. On August 13, 1967, Allen was united in marriage to Martha in Siefersheim, Germany. Together, Allen and Martha raised three children. Following his time in the service, Allen and Martha made their home in Sauk Centre. Allen worked in St. Cloud for a time in a meat locker; then worked for Kraft and landed a job in Long Prairie where he worked in janitorial services in Long Prairie Packing. Deer hunting up in Orr, Minnesota was a well -remembered experience. Each year, Allen and his sons would go to Orr for deer hunting with his brother, Roger. Following his retirement, Allen enjoyed making anything from wood. From simple rabbit cages to intricately cut special pictures of flowers or beautiful bird houses, he was always busy in his shop.
Allen was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. He was a member at the American Legion in Little Sauk.
Allen is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Pagel; son, Emil Pagel of Sauk Centre; daughter, Sandra Pagel of Saint Cloud; grandchildren, Kristyna (Ryan) Mikkelson, Brianna Pagel, Allen Reider, Nicholas Reider, Araya Goodnow and Dameon Goodnow; great grandson, Jared Mikkelson; and brother, Kenneth Pagel of Long Prairie. He is also survived by his beloved companion, Queen Bee or "Queenie", the family American Bulldog.
Allen was preceded in death by his son, Johann Pagel in 2010; parents, Emil and Minnie Pagel; brothers, Roger Pagel and Donald Pagel; and sister in infancy, Sylvia Pagel.
