Allen J. Nathe, age 70 of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his home in Spring Hill, Minnesota after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill with Rev. Omar Guanchez officiating and Rev. Marvin Enneking, Rev. Dick McGuire, and Deacon Stephen Arnold concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Military Honors provided by the Lake Henry American Legion Post 612.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Parish prayers will be held at 4 p.m. followed by St. Michael's Men's Society, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Catholic United Financial at 6 p.m. and the Lake Henry American Legion at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the church.
Allen Joseph Nathe was born December 28, 1942 in Melrose, Minnesota to Edward J. and Amanda C. (Pflipsen) Nathe. He served in the U.S. Air Force from December 3, 1962 through November 15, 1966. He was united in marriage to Bernice Poepping on July 5, 1969 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Allen lived in Minneapolis after being discharged from the Air Force. He and Bernice moved to Spring Hill in 1975 where the couple has farmed and resided for the past 38 years.
He was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill where he was a lector for many years and also counted collection. Allen was always available to help when asked to do things at church including painting the parish house, trimming trees, and helping with cemetery work. He had a big heart for people who needed something repaired. He was also a member of St. Michael's Church Choir, St. Michael's Men's Society, Meire Grove Community Band, Lake Henry American Legion, Post 612, Catholic United Financial, Spring Hill, Catholic Order of Foresters Court 786 in New Munich, the Stearns County Plowmen's Association, and was a Red Cross Blood Donor, who prior to diagnosis, surpassed the five gallon mark.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Nathe of Spring Hill; children, Russell Nathe of Spring Hill, Julie (Jeremy) Roseth of Elk River, and Douglas (Ashley) Nathe of Saratoga Springs, New York; granddaughters, Lydia and Madalyn Roseth, of Elk River; brothers and sisters, Maynard (Donna) Nathe of Cold Spring, Dorreen Arens of Sauk Centre, Colleen (David) Evers of Largo, Florida, James (Irene) Nathe of Greenwald, Robert (Sharon) Nathe of Avon, David (Doris) Nathe of Greenwald, and Rueben (Darlene) Nathe of Sauk Centre.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; Baby Nathe in 1976; brother-in-law, Clarence Arens; and nephew, Kurt Nathe.
Serving as casket bearers will be Douglas Nathe, Russell Nathe, Maynard Nathe, James Nathe, Robert Nathe, David Nathe, and Rueben Nathe. Cross bearer will be Lisa (Nathe) Falk and pall bearer will be Terry Nathe. Honorary bearers will be Jim Boeckers, Aloys Feldewerd, Don Feldewerd, Al Fuechtmann, Jim Leukam, Tim Lucken, James Poepping, Scott Poepping, Wayne Poepping, Ray Schneider, Mark Schoenberg, Randy Schoenberg, Victor Uphoff, Bob VanDrehle, Ron Welle, Steve Welle, Gerald Wensmann, Dan Winter, and members of the St. Michael's Men's Society, Meire Grove Community Band, Catholic United Financial, Spring Hill, Lake Henry American Legion Post 612, and the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 786, New Munich. Lectors will be Jim Leukam and Marlene Otte. Eucharistic ministers will be Moni Barten, Rosie Spanier, and Tom Wuertz. Mass servers will be Mitchell Welle, Raelin Welle, and Benjamin Welle. Gift bearers will be Dorreen (Nathe) Arens and Colleen (Nathe) Evers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Cloud Hospital Hospice.
