Allan F. Hartung, age 50, of Melrose, died after a short battle with cancer, on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Allan Hartung was born August 29, 1957 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Frank and Evangeline "Vangie" (Klaphake) Hartung. He married Sue Kiely on July 7, 1984 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Allan was a dairy farmer, north of Melrose, all his life. He enjoyed snowmobiling, going on 4-wheeling trips, spending time with his family and friends, and most of all, enjoyed his granddaughter. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Hartung of Melrose; children, Jolane Hoeschen of Melrose, Josh Hartung of Melrose and Jayna Hartung of Melrose; granddaughter, Jada; Father, Frank Hartung of Melrose; brothers and sisters, Marge (Pat) Proell of Sauk Centre, Joan (Jerry) Jackson of Melrose, Gary Fabeck of Melrose, Jane (Bruce) Montegani of Blaine, WA, Don (Bertha) Hartung of Melrose, Karen Hartung of Melrose, Amy (Paul) Boeckermann of Pine River, and Dale (Rayna) Hartung of Melrose; and many nieces and nephews.
Allan was preceded in death by his mother, Evangeline "Vangie" Hartung.
Casket bearers will be Rueben Schweiters, Randy Servatius, Ron Altendahl, Don "Red" Wiechmann, Joe Funk and John Wolbeck. Cross bearer will be Lance Hartung and scripture bearer will be Justin Hartung. Honorary bearers will be Kevin Frericks, Keith Soenneker, Gordy Kohout, Neil Blenker, Dale Garlock, Jason Gettel, Kenny Rademacher, Jim Loecken, Steve Boecker, Brian Toenyan, Ryan Hinnenkamp, Mark Pohlmann, Henry Pohlmann, Butch Niehaus, Donnie Hinnenkamp, Duane Duevel, John Mueller and Jamie Mueller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
