Alice M. Wedel, age 90 of Albany, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Michael Naughton, O.S.B. officiating and Rev. Steve Binsfeld concelebrating. Entombment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Seven Dolors gathering area in Albany. Parish prayers will be at 4:30 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers at 6:30 and the American Legion Post 482 Auxiliary at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the Seven Dolors gathering area.
Alice Matilda Wedel was born April 13, 1919 in Holdingford, Minnesota to Frank and Clara (Litchy) Meller. On June 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to Wilbert "Kaiser" Wedel at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Holdingford. Alice has been a lifelong resident of Albany.
She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany, Christian Mothers, and the American Legion Post 482 Auxiliary. Alice enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, crafts, and wood finishing including gold leafing. She especially loved singing to and rocking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her three daughters, Darlene (Joseph) Adrian of Freeport, Rita (Arnold) Gerads of Albany, and Diana (Douglas) Konz of Albany; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ethel Wieber of Richfield.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert "Kaiser" Wedel on July 14, 2003; parents; brothers and sister, Theodore, Richard, Ralph, Alex, Victor and Claudia.
Serving as casket bearers will be Philip Adrian, Glen Adrian, Jason Gerads, Karen Gerads, Christine Mealhouse, and Brian Konz. Serving as cross bearer will be Ryan Adrian and scripture bearer will be Melissa Schlingman.
