Alice M. Bromen, age 92 of Sauk Centre, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 20, 2013 in Osakis, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Alice Marie Polipnick was born January 19, 1921 in St. Cloud to Emil and Margaret (Unger) Polipnick, Sr. She attended St. Paul's Catholic School in Sauk Centre and graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1937. Alice then attended nine months of business college, focusing her studies on bookkeeping and shorthand commercial courses. She worked at the Penny's store in Sauk Centre and St. Cloud as a clerk and as a bookkeeper for Unger Motors in St. Cloud. On November 25, 1943 she married Clarence A. Bromen at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Due to Clarence's service in the United States Army, the couple lived in Belgrade, St. Cloud, Saginaw, Michigan, Ft. Mead, South Dakota, Livermore, California, Columbia, Missouri, and Charleston, South Carolina before moving home to Sauk Centre. Alice enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, scrapbooking, photography, and playing cards.
Alice was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Sauk Centre Senior Center, Historical Society, and was a board member of the Sinclair Lewis Foundation.
Alice is survived by her extended family of nieces, nephews and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Clarence on June 21, 1988; parents; brother, Emil Polipnick Jr.; and sisters, Esther Determan and DeLoris Ayers.
Serving as casket bearers will be Bob Koch, Shane Patzer, Rick Johns, Todd Polipnick, Ron Determan, and Dan Fuchs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
