Alfred Hallermann

Alfred J. "Fritz" Hallermann, age 87 of Grey Eagle, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, MN on Thursday, January 15, 2015, between 4:00-8:00 p.m. with parish prayers held at 7:00 p.m., and Friday, January 16, 2015, between 10:00-11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where Fritz was a member, with Rev. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.

Alfred Joseph Hallermann was born October 7, 1927, in Melrose, MN to Joseph and Elizabeth (Herzog) Hallermann. He married Bernadette Boeckermann on September 21, 1950, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa, MN. After marrying, the couple began farming near Long Prairie, MN. Fritz retired from farming in the early 1990s and became a resident of Grey Eagle, after moving to his home on Bass Lake.

Fritz wanted to be remembered for how much fun he had and the stories he told. He enjoyed playing cards, darts, dancing, going out to eat with his family, fishing trips with his son Gene and his family, and spending time at Linda B's, his daughter's bar & grill in St. Rosa.

Survivors include his children Linda Bauer of St. Rosa, Joan (Duane) Zierden of Grey Eagle, Eugene "Gene" (Gloria) Hallermann of Long Prairie, Roger (Cathy) Hallermann of Sheridan, Wyoming, Marcia (Tom Petersen) Hallermann of Brooten, MN, Doris (William) Minke of Long Prairie, and Mary (Paul) Herzog of St. Rosa; 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, expecting two great-grandchildren in June 2015, and two step great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Lois) Hallermann of Wadena, MN, Virgil Hallermann of St. Cloud, MN, Boniface (Marcella) Hallermann of St. Cloud, and Gerald (Kathy) Hallermann of Anoka, MN; and sisters-in-law, Edna Boeckermann of Holdingford, MN, Helen Hallermann of Sartell, MN, Caroline Ahrens of Grey Eagle, Monica Rieland of New Munich, MN, Marie Kampsen of New Munich, Laverne Hallermann of Albany, MN, and Beatrice "Dickey" of Cold Spring, MN; brother-in-law, Roger (Irene) Boeckermann of St. Rosa; and many nieces and nephews.

Fritz was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernadette on November 3, 1989; brothers, Henry, William (Bill), Ervin, and Donald Hallermann; sister, Marion Hallermann; great-granddaughters, Aubrey Wensmann and Sydney Sand; and many sisters and brothers-in-law.

Serving as casket bearers will be Jason Bauer, Kevin Bauer, Kurt Bauer, Joseph Zierden, Scott Hallermann, Chad Hallermann, Justin Hallermann, Nathan Minke, Tyler Minke, Mitchell Minke, Michael Petersen, and Matthew Petersen. Pall bearers will be Krista Zierden, Ashley Whiteside, Rachel Chapin, and Cheryl Tuorila. Cross bearer will be Dalton Herzog and scripture bearer will be MaKenzie Herzog. Gift bearers will be Brooke Wensmann and Sara Bauer-Sand. Readers will be Aimee Gerads, Vicky Doetkott, and Michelle Mace.
