Alfred C. "Fritz" Enneking, age 92, of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating and Alfred's sons, Rev. Marvin Enneking and Rev. Tom Enneking, OSC concelebrating.Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Sauk Centre Seniors will pray at 4 p.m., the Knights of Columbus will pray at 7 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Alfred Enneking was born in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Elizabeth (Schultenkemper) Enneking on September 23, 1915. He was united in marriage to Alverna M. Olmscheid on May 25, 1948 in St. Martin, Minnesota. Alfred farmed in Spring Hill, Minnesota until 1987 when he retired and moved to Sauk Centre. He enjoyed music, fishing, woodworking, cards and good jokes.He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church where he volunteered for various church and school activities. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sauk Centre Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his children, Robert (Donna) Enneking of Glencoe, Lenore Jenc of Sauk Centre, Rev. Marvin Enneking of St. Cloud, Rev. Tom Enneking, OSC of Phoenix, Arizona, Renee (Robert) VanDrehle of Spring Hill and Eugene (Cheryl) Enneking of Melrose; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alverna on October 30, 2000; brothers, Henry, Bernard "Ben", Jack, Peter, Paul, and Lawrence Enneking; sisters, Mary Petermeier, Anna Athmann, Veronica "Fronie" Wessel, and Clara Enneking.
Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons, James, David, Ken and Gary Enneking, Michael and Jeron VanDrehle. Honorary bearers will be The Knights of Columbus. Cross bearer will be Jacob Enneking and scripture bearer will be Kristi Zimmer. Pall bearer will be Kari Waldorf. Petitions will be read by Pamela Hoglin and Gift bearers will be Cindy Baggenstoss, Hailey and Hannah Enneking.
