Albert Greener

Albert L. "Al" Greener, age 91 of Albany, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albany with Rev. Bradley Pearson officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John's Cemetery following the lunch.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the church in Albany.

Albert Louis Greener was born October 22, 1921 in Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Michael and Eva (Loehlein) Greener. Albert served in the U.S. Army from 1942 through 1946 during World War II. He then worked at the Ford plant in St. Paul from 1946 through 1949. On February 12, 1949 he was united in marriage to Bernice Teske at St. John's Lutheran Church in Krain Township. He continued to work at the Ford plant for three months until moving back to Krain Township to farm.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albany, American Legion Post 482 in Albany, and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5160 in Holdingford. Albert enjoyed fishing, especially his fishing trips to Canada. He was mechanically inclined and loved working on John Deere tractors and farm equipment.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Greener of Albany; children, Glen (Carol) Greener of Albany and Jane Achman of Freeport; grandchildren, Jackie Doubek, Jason Achman, Beth Pallow, Crystal Zeman, Russ Achman, Mike Greener, and Emily Greener; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Bernice Sitzman of Houston, Texas and Beatrice Douvier of Melrose.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roman Greener, Conrad Greener, and Edward Greener; and sisters, Eleanor Christen, Leona Gasperlin, Marion Roehl, and Marcella Millard.

Serving as honorary bearers will be Jackie Doubek, Jason Achman, Beth Pallow, Crystal Zeman, Russ Achman, Mike Greener, and Emily Greener.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
