Agnes H. Klassen, 94, of Melrose died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 at the Melrose Area Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Senior Citizens, Christian Mother's and VFW Auxiliary will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Agnes Klassen was born on Dec. 26, 1909 in Elrosa, Minnesota to John and Theresia (Kramer) Moritz. She married Leo M. Klassen on May 5, 1931 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Elrosa. They lived in Melrose where she was employed by Jennie-O-foods for 47 years. She has resided at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose since July 2002. Agnes was a great quilter, loved knitting and playing cards. She loved her grandchildren and was a wonderful cook. Agnes was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose, Christian Mothers, Melrose Senior Citizens and the Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Don and (Delores) Klassen of Melrose, Ed and (Pat) Klassen of New Hope, Katy and (Ed) Kacures of St. Joseph, Bob and (Rita) Klassen of St. Joseph, Dorothy and (Vern) Fuechtmann of Blaine, Bernette and (Wif) Petermeier Finken of Melrose, Shirley and (Jack) Rieland of St. Paul; 21 grandchildren, 38 Great-Grandchildren, and 6 Step-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Klassen on June 1, 1977; brothers and sisters, Ben, Fritz, Henry, Louie, John, Paul, Bill, Frank and Norbert Moritz, Rose Brinkman, Clara Moritz, Katie Wolbeck and Sister Edelberg, OSB; and son-in-law, Gene Petermeier on Nov. 28, 1994.
