Agnes R. "Aggie" Hinnenkamp, age 94 of Melrose, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the CentraCare Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman and Rev. Robert Kieffer concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. The Christian Mothers, St. Elizabeth's Society, and the VFW Auxiliary will pray at 5 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Agnes R. Mueller was born October 6, 1919 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Kettler) Mueller. She was united in marriage to Boniface "Boni" Hinnenkamp on June 25, 1940 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. Aggie worked at a number of stores in Melrose including Stueve Shoes, Welz Grocery, Herges Grocery, and at St. Mary's rectory as a housekeeper. She was also a foster grandparent for 19 years and was a rural census taker for 25 years. Aggie started her work career outside the home at age 50 after farming with her husband, Boni for 20 years. Aggie and Boni continued to farm until selling the farm to their son in 1972.

She was a member St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary, Sts. Bernard and Elizabeth Council, and the Dizzy Lizzy's. Aggie enjoyed quilting, painting ceramics, embroidering and making rosaries. She also enjoyed outdoor activities such as gardening and bird watching. Aggie was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and always had a dictionary by her side in case she didn't know the meaning of a particular word. She loved spending time visiting with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Donna (John) Jennissen of Sauk Centre, Virg (Andrea Nicholas) Hinnenkamp of Verona, Kentucky, Kathy (Ron Wolters) Hinnenkamp of Grey Eagle, Larry (Carol Rutten) Hinnenkamp of Melrose, Ron (Connie Thorsland) Hinnenkamp of Little Falls, Dennis (LuAnn Sand) Hinnenkamp of Fargo, North Dakota, Arlene (Randy) Pieper of Melrose, and Marjorie (Paul) Roering of Sauk Centre; 26 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and one great- great-grandchild; sister, Della Thelen of Melrose; brother, Edward (Katherine "Kitty") Mueller of Melrose; and sisters-in-law, Millie Mueller and Marie Primus.

Aggie was preceded in death by her husband, Boniface "Boni" Hinnenkamp on July 21, 1998; son, Kevin Hinnenkamp; sisters, Loretta Frieler, Irene Shay, and Mary Mueller; brothers, Joe Mueller and Lawrence Mueller; brothers-in-law, Ed Frieler, Ronald Shay, and Herb Thelen; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers will be Joel Jennissen, Eric Hinnenkamp, Corey Pieper, Brendan Hinnenkamp, Isaac Roering, Travis Hinnenkamp, Jeff Wessel and Ryan Hinnenkamp. Cross bearer will be Marisa Hinnenkamp and scripture bearer will be Janel Loesch. Serving as honorary bearers will be the Foster Grandparents.
