Agatha F. Zierden, age 94 of Albany, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 7 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Cletus Connors, O.S.B. officiating and Deacon Isaiah Frederick assisting. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Friday at the Seven Dolors gathering area in Albany.
Agatha Frances Fischer was born August 11, 1922 in Albany, Minnesota to John and Mary (Fischer) Fischer. She attended school until the 8th grade. On May 11, 1948 she married Hubert Zierden at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. After their marriage, they took over her family farm, south of Albany, where they raised their five children. She enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, working on the farm, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Agatha was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, Mary Kay (Tom) Blommel of Freeport, David (Linda) Zierden of Freeport, Lou Ann (Duane) Kleve of Albany, Elaine (Gerald) Sand of Albany, and Paul (fiancée, Amy Vogt) Zierden of Albany; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way in February.
Agatha was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Zierden on May 6, 1991; her parents, John and Mary Fischer; brothers and sisters, Oswald Fischer, Roman Fischer, Anna Bloch, Hildegard Heinen, Rosalia Gertken, and Angeline Felling.
Serving as casket bearers will be Craig Kleve, Jason Zierden, Jeff Zierden, Mark Elfering, Mike Elfering, Steven Sand, and Scott Sand.
