Adelbert L. "Del" Schurman, age 81 of Glenwood, died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at his home near Glenwood, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday morning at the church.
Adelbert Leo Schurman was born November 27, 1933 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to George and Elizabeth (Mondloch) Schurman. Following the unexpected death of his parents, he was raised by his uncle John and aunt Rose Mondloch. He was a graduate of Sauk Centre High School and Dunwoody Institute as an engineer. On July 18, 1959 he was united in marriage to Kay Emmel at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple raised their family and lived for over forty years in New Hope.
Del was employed by Cornelius in Anoka and then Methods in New Brighton as a design engineer. He then worked on freelance projects for Cornelius before retiring in 2000. In 2007 the couple moved to Glenwood although they called Mesa, Arizona home during the winter months. Del loved to play golf and enjoyed camping and living on the lake. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood.
Survivors include four children, Bradley (Kathy) Schurman of St. Michael, Sandra (Rick) Halvorson of Keller, Texas, James (Susan) Schurman of Jordan, and Krisann (Rick) Mathieu of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Ashley Kay Halvorson, Austin Halvorson, Jacob Schurman, Tyler Mathieu, and Trey Mathieu; brothers and sisters, Werner Schurman of Wisconsin, Br. Robert Schurman of Indiana, Georgetta Doerner of San Diego, California, Eugene (Betty) Schurman of St. Louis Park, and Elizabeth (Thomas) Schepp of Wisconsin.
Del was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth (Mondloch) Schurman; uncle and aunt, John and Rose Mondloch; and wife, Kay Schurman on May 24, 2012.
