Adam C. Uecker, age 79 of Grey Eagle, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Valley View Assisted Living in Long Prairie, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 19 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Grey Eagle.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church in Grey Eagle.
Adam Carl Uecker was born September 1, 1934 in Burnhamville Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Ernst and Lydia (Schauer) Uecker. On June 8, 1974 he married Sharon Oukrop at Little Sauk Longbridge Lutheran Church in rural Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Adam farmed on the family farm just north of Grey Eagle in Burnhamville Township. He and Sharon also owned and operated Uecker's Campgrounds on Big Swan Lake and Lady Lake.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle where he served as secretary for 30 years and was also a member of the Men's Club. Before losing his vision, Adam enjoyed reading western books and watching westerns on television. He was a people person who had a knack for telling jokes and stories and had a terrific memory to remember them all. He loved visiting with people, especially the campers at his campgrounds. After losing his vision, Adam enjoyed shaking dice with his friends and rarely lost a game.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Uecker of Grey Eagle; cousins, Erwin Uecker of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Ruth Reichwald of Mankato; and many other relatives and friends.
Adam was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Lydia Schauer.
Serving as casket bearers will be Dick Engle, Terry Erickson, Joe Welle, Wayne Rahn, Don Lambrecht, and Steve Schauer.
